Denzel Washington plays the role of “The Stranger”, walking the vast wastelands of America, heading West because he has a mission that he must fullfill. Along the way Denzel encounters the low life’s of society, biker gangs, cannibals and so on, trying his best to avoid confrontation. Wandering in a post apocalyptic and trying to go unnoticed don’t often mix in “The Strangers” case. Along the way “The Stranger” happens upon a small town which is controlled by Carnegie (Gary Oldman) who happens to have an obsession with obtaining a certain book, a book that “The Stranger” happens to have in his possession. Carnegie feels that this book is all he needs to take further control of not only the people living in the town he controls but also the entire post-apocalyptic world. Eventually Carnegie finds out that the book he seeks is in the hands of “The Stranger” which leads Carnegie to do all that he can to obtain this most prized of possessions.

Denzel Washington is excellent as the main character providing a commanding presence in nearly every scene in which he appears. His fight scenes are nothing short of mesmerizing. Gary Oldman in the role of the villain Carnegie is perfect. The supporting cast which included Ray Stevenson as Redridge, Carnegies right hand man and Mila Kunis’ Solara were solid.

The movie is very intense and will leave you hanging on every word, not wanting to miss a second of the action and dialog. The Book of Eli really surprised me as I cannot think of a single thing that I did not like about this movie. Throw in several twist at the end of the film and you have sheer entertainment from beginning to end!

Overall, The Book of Eli offers a very nice, action-packed and entertaining experience!
