The Sunday Stroll for November 23rd, 2008
Hollywood has seriously jumped on the comic book bandwagon, as if you did not already know this. Here is a list that contains 84 comics being made into films. There are some pretty good comics on this list that will soon be translated to the big screen. I wonder how many of these films will be screwed up by some studio head that knows nothing about comics and tries to put his own little twist on things. X-Men 3, anyone remember that one?
On the flip side here is a list of twelve comic book tv shows that were never made. Nothing on the list really excites me except for Global Frequency. It was a rather good comic that would have translated well to the small screen.
Want to win a copy of Alan’s War: The Memories of G.I. Alan Cope? This woman that loves Rob Liefeld is giving away a copy.
I came across a link that had the words ‘prepare to drool’ and ‘girls entertainment network’ in the same sentence. Of course I got excited and clicked the link. Upon arriving at the site, I got excited alright, but not for the reasons your thinking.
I’ve never been much for science. Hell, I slept my way through high school chemistry. Had the curriculum been a bit different I may have had more of an interest. Rather than teaching us about atoms and molecules the focus could have been on something like, How does Iceman not freeze to death. Mixing comic books and science is mad genius. Had they taught science this way when I was in school I probably would not have had to attend summer school that year.
Dan Didio must have read last weeks edition of The Sunday Stroll where I mentioned something in regards to the lack of marketing that takes place over at DC because he has been hitting the interview circuit pretty heavy lately. Heres one, heres another and another.
I want to give a shout out to this new comic book review site, www.comicreviewers.com, that myself(on a limited basis) and The Lottery Party’s Richard Caldwell will be contributing to. The site is pretty new and doesn’t offer much content yet but check it out, it should be a hit.
Here’s 24 minutes and 24 seconds of fan film awesomeness.
Catwoman: Nine Lives
I came across this site the other day, Typealyzer.com, which analyzes what type of person writes the blog. Here is what it had to say about ComicNews.Info, now take into consideration that we have 3 people that write for this site. We are DOERS.
The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time. I can’t speak for the other writers of ComicNews.Info but what I placed in bold print is pretty accurate when it comes to me.
If you make one purchase this week it needs to be The Nearly Complete Essential Fred Hembeck Archives Omnibus (2008). You can pick the book up from his site or order it through Amazon.com.
That’s a wrap!
