Martin Fisher made his comic book debut back in 2007 with his Alterna Comics published title, Risers, a tale that sheds a whole new light on zombies. Since that time Martin has remained pretty busy within the industry, working on comics for both Arcana and Blue Water Productions. Rising above the rest, so to speak.

Martin recently answered a few questions for us as part of the newest feature at ComicNews.Info, “Checking in With…”, in which we ask some of our favorite creators a handful of questions related to comics.

What projects are you currently working on right now?

Right now I’m waiting for colored pages to come in on The Dependents, a GN that will be published by Arcana at some point in the future, once it’s finished. I’m doing the same on Battle Amongst the Stars, a prequel comic to the Roger Corman produced movie Battle Beyond the Stars, which is being published by Bluewater Productions. This will be my first licensed comic. I’ve also written a mini-series for another licensed comic, but I can’t say what that is at the moment.

What goals, both short and long term, have you set for yourself at this stage in your career?

My aim is to keep going to get more stuff published. I’ve got 20 or so franchises that I want to write for in comics, and there isn’t anything that’s going to stop me from doing that.

Looking to the future, where do you see the comic book industry five years from now?

I’m not that in tune to how the industry is looking, so I really don’t know. I hope it’ll still be print based rather than digital.

What’s the most rewarding experience you’ve ever had while working in the comics industry?

I’ve worked with some real talent, that’s the most rewarding thing. I’ve made some great friends along the way, that and getting to do my first licensed comic are quite rewarding.

What is your dream project?

To work on a full, on-going monthly comic title for a number of years, or to do my own TV show as the sole writer, which has never been done in American TV history before (I think, please correct me if I’m wrong).
