Andrew Dobson is the talented writer and artist behind the Alterna Comics published title, Formera, an all-ages comic that finds a young boy waking up one day to learn that he is stranded on a strange alien planet. The story centers around our young lad as he tries to find a way home, while avoiding a mysterious masked man who has sinister designs of his own.
Andrew recently answered a few questions for us as part of the newest feature at ComicNews.Info, “Checking in With…”, in which we ask some of our favorite creators a handful of questions related to comics.

What projects are you working on right now?
I’m working on an animated short, Formera book 3, and a bunch of Pirate cartoons.

What goals, both short and long term, have you set for yourself at this stage in your career?
I want to just keep making comics and striving to get better. Long term it would be lovely to have one of my series adapted into a TV show or movie.

Looking to the future, where do you see the comic book industry five years from now?
I see it being even more diverse than it is now, and with a lot more webcomics. Big companies like DC and Marvel might start having trouble competing in the market against the overflowing numbers of self-published smaller titles which cater more specifically to a target audience.

What’s the most rewarding experience you’ve ever had while working in the comic industry?
When I get actual letters back from the fans saying how much they enjoy my characters. That’s the best reward ever.

What is your dream project?
To be able to just sit at a desk and draw comics all day long.
