You are most likely good at your craft. If you are a creator of virtually anything – tv show, podcast, illustration, music, jewelry, etc., then you have some kind of skill. From basic to master skills, you have something that others may not. You are an expert – someone who has knowledge of a particular field.

Of course, there is always room for improvement at any level you are in. We’ve all heard of the phrase, “Practice makes perfect.” Therefore, you should never stop to make yourself better. However, while you are doing that you can share your expertise with others. If you aren’t passing your knowledge to others than you are selling yourself short and this will not accomplish much.

Don’t sell yourself short because you have something to offer. Whether you have been doing your craft for a year or 20 years, you can teach what you have learned so far to others. Remember, people like to hear what can benefit them.

In addition, by giving advice you are proving to others that you are confident in your work. You can be modest and self-reliant at the same time. Anyone who is certain about their value and knowledge is someone who others seek. Seriously, when was the last time you heard of someone say, “ I’m looking for a writer who thinks his blog is just ok?”

Next time you try to expose your work to the rest of the world, speak with confidence. Tell others your thoughts and ideas. The more you can give to others, the more you get from them.
