Oh Sweet Nostalgia! Transformers: The Complete First Season Reviewed
Sweet nostalgia, oh how I love thee!
This year, it would appear that Christmas has come early for me. Thanks to Shout! Factory in conjunction with Hasbro, by releasing the complete first season of Transformers: The Complete First Season.
Correcting the mistakes of past Transformers DVD releases (ahem Rhino), Shout! Factory delivers a quality product at a very affordable price that will make hardcore fans go ga-ga and turn casual fans, well, into hardcore fans!
Since starting this website I have seen my fair share of 80’s animation receive the DVD treatment and many seem to suffer from showing it’s true age. The quality in alot of today’s releases are pretty blah, so to speak. Transformers: The Complete First Season doesn’t seem to fall into the “blah” category. The video is not perfect but for an 80’s animation to look this good, is a major plus.
The packaging and presentation was nothing short of impressive. The attention to detail when designing the slipcase, sleeve inserts, disc art and the episode guide were quite fascinating, and I’m not one to thrill about a DVD’s box art. This one however, had me frothing at the mouth.
Hoping to appease to both the casual and hardcore fans Transformers: The Complete First Season is the first of 4 releases that will make up the complete Transformers cartoon. Also in the works is an all-in-one complete series package set ,the Matrix of Leadership edition, scheduled for release on July 13th through Shout! Factory’s website.
Twenty-five years later I’m still impressed with this cartoon series and one cannot go wrong by picking up this highly entertaining DVD set.
